Holy Ghost Mission Hospitalital is a multispeciality health care centre with more than 200 bed strength. Pioneered in 1954, today it is rendering sophisticated services at an affordable cost. HGM Hospital run by a Trust, is a catholic, voluntary and charitable institution of "No Profit No Loss" motive. Its objectives are to provide medical services to the public irrespective of caste, creed and community by restoring them to complete physical, mental and spiritual health. The motto of HGM Hospital is "Caring with a Healing Touch".
HISTORY
On July 4, 1954, HGM Hospital was blessed by Most Rev. Mar Sebastian Vayalil, the Late Bishop of Palai. It was his farsightedness which made HGM Hospital a reality. The Late Very Rev. Fr. Sebastian Pinakattu, the Vicar and the founder of the hospital was the first Director. The hospital grew steadily during the regime of Most Rev. Mar Joseph Pallikaparampil Bishop Emeritus. Most Rev. Mar Joseph Kallarangattu, the present Bishop of the Diocese of Palai, the Patron of the HGM Hospital and the HGM Registered Trust, is legal holder of the Hospital. The legal responsibility lies with the Board of Trustees. Rev. Dr. Mathew Madathikunnel is the present Director of the Hospital and the executive Trustee. He has been the Chancellor of the Diocese of Palai, Parish Priest of three parishes including the Cathedral and served as the Finance Officer of the Syro-Malabar Major Archiepiscopal Church of Ernakulam- Angamaly. Rev. Fr. Joseph Mundackal is the Asst. Director of the Hospital.
From the beginning of this hospital the Nursing Services are being carried out by the Sisters of the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (SABS) as Nursing Superintendent, Principals, In-charges of all Departments and Wards.
HISTORICAL ANALYSIS
Holy Ghost Mission Hospital is a multispeciality health care centre with 200 bed strength. Pioneered in1954, today it is rendering sophisticated services at an affordable cost. The Parishioners of the Holy Ghost Forane Church, Muttuchira desired to have Hospital at Muttuchira and they approached the then Bishop of Palai, Mar. Sebastian Vayalil. On 08.06.1952 Very Rev. Fr. Sebastian Pinakattu who is a veteran in the field of Medical Services was appointed as the Vicar Forane of Muttuchira, with special instruction from the bishop to start the hospital at Muttuchira. The foundation stone of the first building was blessed by His Eminence Eugene Cardinal Tisserant, the then Secretary of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches, Rome, during his visit to Kerala, in 1953. On July 4, 1954, the Hospital was blessed by His Excellency Mar. Sebastian Vayalil, the then Bishop of Palai and was inaugurated by His Eminence Cardinal Gracious, the first Cardinal of India. Very Rev. Fr. Sebastian Pinakattu, the Vicar and the founder of the hospital was the first Director. He continued till 31.12.1954.

In 1991, January the Hospital was registered as a Charitable Trust under the Name “ Holy Ghost Hospital Trust”, the Bishop of Palai as the Patron and Proto Syncellus as Chairman, the Director as its Chief Trustee.
